Caroline S’Jegers, Europe’s first female Ecstatic Dance DJ, is a spoken word artist who has played a key role in expanding the conscious dance movement. With roots in Belgium, she has influenced communities worldwide. Caroline blends music, movement, and poetry to create immersive spaces where ceremony and storytelling invite participants to feel, remember, and co-create. Her debut album “Birthing a Forest” captures the raw beauty of life’s natural rhythms. A poetess in motion and a keeper of melody, Caroline guides each journey with intention - one heartbeat, one breath, one dance at a time.

A key figure of Ecstatic Dance in Belgium and The Netherlands, Caroline has helped shape the Ecstatic Dance community and earned her place within the global conscious dance and music scene. Rooted in ritual and storytelling, her dance journeys invite participants to explore, remember, and co-create. Every beat, breath, and movement offers an opportunity to experience the power of presence and the joy of collective creativity. With a soulful and uplifting approach, Caroline’s work is rooted in ceremony, constellation work, and the understanding that dance serves as a powerful tool for returning to our truest selves.

Her debut album Birthing a Forest reflects Caroline’s dedication to raw transformation, co-created with artists like Susie Ro, Carrie Tree, Mitsch Kohn, Kevin James, and Uria Tsur. The album blends spoken word and music, guiding listeners to reconnect with their inner selves. Caroline’s work bridges cultures, global issues, and the rhythms of life, inviting people to return to their roots while inspiring them to embrace new possibilities. Through every offering, she creates spaces that foster connection, growth, and the magic of shared creation.

As a mother of two, Caroline’s life is shaped by her experiences with free birth and sustainable living. She spent seven years in a permaculture community with her husband, Josse Horsten, a food forest designer. Together, they are weaving dance back into the land, envisioning a future of flourishing community life and deeper respect for Earth.

With a background as a psychologist (BA) and cultural anthropologist (MSc), Caroline has spent many years exploring the deeper healing aspects of dance across cultures. Ecstatic Dance, with roots in Hawaii, was first introduced to Caroline through her deep involvement in the practice. She co-founded Ecstatic Dance Belgium almost 10 years ago, running weekly dances in four Belgian cities. Her work has significantly shaped how Ecstatic Dance is experienced in Europe today. Along the way, she has collaborated with artists and visionaries from all over the world (such as Rising Appalachia, Ayla Nereo, Nessi Gomes, Mirabai Ceiba and many more), co-creating transformative events that bring people together through music and movement.

Caroline is also the voice behind Weaving Circles Podcasts, where she interviews groundbreaking visionaries making a positive impact on the world. Through Heart of the Dance, Caroline and her colleagues Tom Goldhand and Léon Beckx continue to support the growing Ecstatic and Conscious Dance communities, offering retreats and training that deepen our connection to the body, expand practical skills, and nurture intuitive wisdom.
